Menswear S/S 2013- School project.

This past semester I worked with a team of four other girls on a menswear collection. I was NOT looking forward to last semester as I thought menswear was boring and I don't usually like team work at school. Turns out it was an amazing semester, where this assignment was pretty stress free. Menswear is far more interesting than I thought, with lots of attention paid to detail. It was also a lot of fun because my potential customer is my boyfriend. Designing with him in mind was fun.

This is the final look I came up with, and I can't wait to have my handsome boyfriend wear it. The photos are by Mani ( a team mate) and the model is Jesse (another team mates friend). Photos of my boyfriend in the ensemble will soon be up.

Women's Motorcycle Vest- Custom

For my functional appearal course this past semester I did a research project on women's motorcycle garments. I chose to make a leather vest for my client, Goldie. This is the end result.

The vest features a chest pocket for a cellphone, with velcro enclosure. It does up with side straps that fasten to the back via velcro, as well as shoulder straps that include elastic for ease in movement while riding. The front of the garment is high cut to allow the rider to bend into riding position, and is low in the back to protect the riders tailbone. M

Dora Abodi- A/W '12

Dora Abodi is an award winning designer who uses expensive materials and embellishes her garments and purses by hand. She is a believer of slow fashion, not fast. She doesn't use real fur or exotic leathers.

This collection by Dora Abodi is so creative, and at times a little nutso! I love the seaming of the leather garments. The feather dresses are a little too cooky for me. But I love the full length skirts with the fluffy sweaters. The purse is often unnecessary in the photos, and I really don't like the model! Her harsh jaw line and edgy look is a little too much for these elegant and over the top dresses.

Love the back!

Bigbird on acid.

This jacket is pretty cool!

This lamb sweater is too cute. The purse is way too much though.

I'd wear this in a heartbeat!

LOVE. and they got the purse spot on for once!

Not normally a peplum fan but it works here.

AHHH LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Laser Cut Leather- Vawk by Sunny Fong

Currently at the Room at the Bay, Vawk by Sunny Fong, has amazing laser cut leather details. In person I was in shock as to how amazing the dresses looked. The weight of the dresses oozed luxury as well.

Laser cut leather is not just in the high end department stores you can find it in vintage bags, shoes, shorts. You can even find laser cut nylon and poly at forever 21!
